Sample guidelines
- Cells
- Purified DNA
- Plasmids
We recommend using a 96-PCR-plate for cell lysate shipments. Please dissociate your cells using your established protocols, count them, and resuspend in lysis buffer for shipment. We recommend sending your cells suspended in DNA/RNA Shield (Zymo Research). The number of cells required will depend on the specific application. Generally, unselected samples (i.e. cells that have not undergone FACS sorting, antibiotic selection, etc.) should be 500x coverage of your library. For example, if you have 1k library elements, we recommend sending at least 500k cells. For selected samples, please specify the number of viable cells prior to lysis in your Order Form.
Labware guidelines
Please use a 96-PCR-plate for shipping cells, purified DNA, and plasmids.| Working Volume | Minimum Volume | |
|---|---|---|
| 96-well PCR plate (‘96-PCR-plate’) | 120μL | 20μL |
We generally don’t recommend anything above the working volume due to cross-contamination concerns.
Prepare your samples
Cover your plates.
Using the strip caps provided in your return package, snap them onto your plates top to bottom (i.e. A1 - H1).

Ensure that your caps are flush with the top of the plate and tightly fitted in the well.
You should see no air gap between the top of the well and the strip.

Parafilm your plate(s).
Parafilm the rim of the plate to seal the gasket edge, then parafilm the plate over the top to complete the wrapping.

Place your samples in the provided bubble wrap shipping sleeve.
Please use one bubble wrap package per plate to prevent punctures between stacked plates. Place the plate inside the bubble wrap in the below orientation, remove the adhesive strip, and seal the package shut.Samples can be shipped at room temperature.
